Days after a federal judge in Texas ordered a suspension of the state’s new abortion ban, the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals allowed the restrictions to continue pending further arguments.
The law, signed by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, has banned most abortions in the state since September.
The Trump-era restriction blocked Title X family planning clinics from referring women to abortion providers.
The seven-time Grammy winner said she'd thought about canceling her Austin City Limits performance to "punish" the state for enacting the legislation.
"Once again we’re in a room of legislators who are attempting to legislate reproductive systems that they know nothing about," the congresswoman said.
During a hearing on Capitol Hill, Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO) bravely talked about getting an abortion after she turned 18-years-old.
"The reality is, 66% of people who’ve had abortions plan on having a baby when they’re older, financially stable, and are in a supportive relationship."
The far-right lawmaker targeted the Catholics for Choice organization.
