A Yankees Outfielder Just Threw A Baseball Faster Than Anyone

Armed and dangerous.

You know how baseball overuses phrases like, "He has a cannon for an arm"?

Well, New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Hicks may deserve that praise for real.

Hicks recorded the fastest baseball ever thrown Wednesday while throwing out a tagging Danny Valencia of the Oakland A's at home plate.

The ball reached 105.5 miles per hour while traveling more than 246 feet, according to the Statcast statistic service.

MLB.com noted the previous best of 103.1 mph recorded by Statcast was a throw last September from the Houston Astros' Carlos Gomez.
