Taron Egerton Looks Fantastic As Elton John In 'Rocketman' Biopic

The musical tracks John's ascent to rock stardom in the 1970s.

It’s gonna be a long, long time until the Elton John musical biopic “Rocketman” comes out.

But Paramount Pictures is whetting fans’ appetites already, releasing a photo early Friday of actor Taron Egerton fully transformed into the pop icon.

Now that’s the only way to fly:

The “Rocketman” musical fantasy follows John’s rise from Royal Academy of Music prodigy to rock giant in the 1970s, according to a previous Deadline report. Jamie Bell and Bryce Dallas Howard also star in the film, directed by Dexter Fletcher (who took over as director for the Queen movie “Bohemian Rhapsody.”)

Egerton, 28, perhaps best known for playing Eggsy in the “Kingsman” spy films, has some big platform shoes to fill playing John. But at least he’s got the look down.

The film is scheduled to open May 31, 2019, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
