The Eurasian eagle owl spent just over a year flying free before dying in an apparent collision with a Manhattan building.
The Central Park Zoo is halting efforts to capture the escaped Eurasian eagle-owl, as long as he doesn't show signs of "difficulty or distress."
"She took a chance on big city life and in turn brought us so much joy," wrote one fan of the bird, who officials say collided with a park vehicle.
