Taylor Swift, taking her Eras Tour to sold-out audiences across the country this spring, is making generous donations to local charities along the way.
Swift kicked off her highly anticipated tour last week in Glendale, Arizona, where she reportedly made a donation to the Arizona Food Bank Network, a group that supports five regional food banks and roughly 1,000 food pantries and agencies.
Swift’s agent said the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter “planned to make a positive impact” in communities along her tour, Terri Shoemaker, a vice president of Arizona Food Bank Network, told AZ Central. Swift hasn’t publicized the donation.
Swift also made a contribution to Nevada food bank Three Square ahead of her tour stops in Las Vegas last week. The charity gave a shoutout to Swift and expressed gratitude for the donation in an Instagram post on Wednesday.
The “generous gift” allows the group “to provide thousands of meals to families and individuals struggling with hunger,” the food bank wrote.
Swift’s low-key generosity has helped define her stardom. She’s famously helped disaster-stricken communities and topped a 2014 list of public figures who used their fame and riches to support charities, including feminist causes and education.
Swift has also made efforts to reach out to community members while on her tour. She gifted tickets to her Glendale tour stop to Isabella McCune, a 13-year-old who suffered burns to over 65% of her body in a 2018 accident, Arizona’s KNXV-TV reported.
McCune received a visit from the singer-songwriter in the hospital in 2018 along with a note that said she couldn’t wait to have her at a show.
