Dave Rubin: Coming Out As Gay Was My 'Defining Moment'

Coming Out Was My 'Defining Moment,' Recalls Gay Comedian
|

" Rubin Report " host and comedian Dave Rubin recalled his own coming out experience, which he described as his "defining moment," in a candid conversation with Ana Kasparian of "The Young Turks."

"I was closeted into my mid-twenties and even into my late twenties," Rubin recalled. "It screwed up my relationships; it screwed up things with my family that I've since repaired."

Noting that "things have changed tremendously" while pointing to the recent "Duck Dynasty" controversy as well as outspoken opponents to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) rights, Rubin added, "There's only room for one in a closet ... It took me too long to be true to myself. I wish, in retrospect, I'd been a little easier on myself, I suppose."
