Comedians Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell announced an upcoming sequel to their 1997 comedy “Good Burger” during Friday’s episode of “The Tonight Show.”

Thompson and Mitchell, who starred in the original film and the Nickelodeon “All That” sketches it was based on, will reprise their roles as Dex and Ed after production begins in May, according to a Saturday press release.

“It’s been years [in the making], pretty much since the first one,” Thompson told late-night host Jimmy Fallon.

“Since the first one, we’ve been wanting to do [part] two,” Mitchell added.

“Good Burger 2,” which is set for a Paramount+ release later this year, finds Dex “down on his luck after another one of his inventions fails,” leading him back to Ed and the fast-food restaurant Good Burger.

Dex “devises a plan to get back on his feet” but puts the restaurant “at risk once again,” according to the press release.

The sequel is set to bring back “Good Burger” writers Kevin Kopelow and Heath Seifert, who are also executive producers for the film.

On “The Tonight Show,” Thompson promised hijinks in the new movie and said he hopes for “as many” cameos as possible.

The pair’s announcement comes years after talks for a potential sequel and follows a “Good Burger” reunion sketch on Fallon’s show in 2015.

Thompson and Mitchell parodied “Good Burger” once again with the late-night host during Friday’s episode of “The Tonight Show.”
